What do you do for a living? Nurse Practitioner

What made you decide to book a boudoir shoot? I decided to book a boudoir shoot for many reasons. I have always struggled with seeing myself as beautiful, which may be hard for some to understand. However, I have always been hard on myself. The older I get, the more I am able to look past the flaws, and appreciate me for me. Jolene helped me see that beauty, and made me feel SEXY!!!!

Did you have any fears going into your session? I was quite nervous before the session, mostly due to the vulnerability of being almost nude in front of a complete stranger. I also had recently gone through a rough break up, and these pictures were also going to be for him so I was in tears when I arrived to the appointment. I was grieving the breakup and wondering what the heck I was doing about to do this photo shoot! When I arrived to the studio, Jolene instantly grabbed me and hugged me, she gave me inspirational words and lifted my spirits up instantly. She said, we are doing this for YOU, YOU need this. And really, that’s all I needed to hear. She made me feel so comfortable, beautiful, and it wasn’t awkward at all!! Never mind the fact she was a stranger, because after the first few minutes she felt like someone I have known for years. She has a way to make you feel comfortable and put you at ease and make you laugh!

What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (hair and makeup, the shoot, image reveal, giving the images etc..) For me it was really fun to feel beautiful having my makeup done and doing the actual photos. However, my favorite part of the session was the reveal. She played some music during the slide show, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t cry. Because I did. It was an emotional and empowering experience. Seeing yourself on the big screen, beautiful, vulnerable, and sexy. It was an indescribable moment.

How has the response been to your images? The response from my friends has been amazing. They are all blown away by my pictures, as was I!!! I love showing people! I can’t wait until I am 80 and can look at them and say, damn I was HOT!!!

What is your advice for women interested in a boudoir experience? I highly recommend doing the boudoir shoot! I also recommend doing them for yourself, it doesn’t have to be for a significant other, you deserve it for yourself. All women are beautiful, what better way to embrace that beauty than with pictures you can have forever?!

black-and-white-boudoir-madison-wiDid anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of your experience? I feel like I appreciate myself and my body more after the shoot. Who cares if I have a roll when I sit, or a mole I don’t like. As Jolene said, its YOU and is what makes you special and beautiful. I am so thankful I did the shoot, and thankful for Jolene as a human who is empowering women everyday!

The pictures are amazing and so are you. Keep your head up. The things you are looking for will find you when the time is right but in the meantime, never forget how beautiful and powerful you are as an individual but most importantly as a woman.

I mean what I’m about to say with the utmost respect, you are beautiful. I was just curious about what exactly a boudoir shoot was so I googled the word and this article popped up.
I’m grateful it did….I can’t stop thinking that guy screwed up for letting you go at that moment but I know the world is glad he did. The world wouldn’t have been given to see the masterpiece that these picture have become. Thanks for sharing your story 🙏🏼

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. Boudoir

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle.  It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
