There is something incredibly powerful about a woman growing a human.
Not just the obvious miracle of it, but the quiet strength. The surrender. The way her body changes shape to make room for new life. Pregnancy asks so much of us, and yet somehow women continue to move through it with a grace that often goes completely unnoticed.

From the moment she stepped into the studio, I knew we weren’t creating traditional maternity portraits. We weren’t focused on props or perfect smiles. We were creating something softer. More intimate. More honest.
Something that felt like art.
The sheer fabric, the window light, the shadows, the curves of her body….all of it came together in a way that felt almost dreamlike. There is a tenderness to these images that I absolutely love.

Pregnancy is such a fleeting season.
Some days feel endless when you’re living them. The swollen ankles, the sleepless nights, the constant trips to the bathroom. But then suddenly it’s over. The baby arrives. Your body changes again. And this version of you exists only in photographs and memory.
That’s why I love maternity photography so much.
Years from now, when the tiny kicks are long forgotten and the baby sleeping on your chest is heading off to college, these photographs become proof of where the story began.
Proof of the anticipation.
The waiting.
The transformation.
And yes, the beauty.

If you’re expecting and have been thinking about documenting this season of your life, consider this your sign.
Maternity sessions are available in my Mount Horeb studio, just outside Madison, Wisconsin. Whether you’re envisioning something soft and ethereal like this session, or even something outdoors, I would love to create images that celebrate you during this incredible season of life.
Pregnancy doesn’t last forever, but the photographs do.
Please reach out here to learn more about a custom maternity session. I would be honored to tell this part of your story.

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. What you’ve overcome and where you are heading.

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle. It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
