I had gotten a bonus at work and wanted to treat myself to something fun. And I wanted to try something that I normally wouldn’t do, that might be a confidence boost. When I had a baby 3 years ago, my sense of self was hard to find, and I figured this might help me along in that. Plus, when I was researching options, Jolene’s photos looked the most tasteful and I loved them, they didn’t seem silly or overdone, while still keeping the air of something out of the ordinary.
Yes – that I wouldn’t like the photos when I saw them because I am a plus size woman, which ended up being absolutely unfounded and I spent way more than I ever anticipated.
I didn’t have any pre-conceived notions going in to this, since I’ve never done anything like this before. I was just kind of along for the experience and was guided every step of the process.
Shopping for things to wear and then the reveal, though everything was pretty great through the whole process.
Do it, even if you’re only a little bit curious. Especially if you’re the kind of person who is really in your head about everything. It’s grounding in that “be in the moment” kind of way that everybody talks about when they bring up mindfulness. You can’t be anywhere else while it’s happening, and it’s a lot of fun even if you’re nervous. ALSO – as a chubble, I have to recommend this HIGHLY to other women who maybe have a little extra. Don’t be afraid of your body. It does wonderful, amazing things for you. This is a great way to appreciate it, and yourself.
Yes – I got to see myself through another set of eyes. It was a similar experience to when you see a photo of yourself from 5 years ago when you were insecure about the way you looked then and you’re like “what the hell was I thinking, I was adorable” except I don’t have to wait 5 years to have that feeling.

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. What you’ve overcome and where you are heading.

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle. It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
