What is your age? 27
What made you decide to book a boudoir shoot?
It was recommended to me by a friend to do one as a wedding gift to my husband. I put it off several times until I had a baby and decided it was time to feel like myself again and gain some confidence back as a woman, not just a mom.
Did you have any fears going into your session?
Yes! So many! What if none of the pictures turn out? They did. What if it’s awkward taking half naked pictures with a stranger? It wasn’t. What if my husband thinks it’s weird? He DEFINITELY didn’t. HUGE credit to Jolene for making this not only comfortable, but a lot of fun. I’ve had past photography sessions (wedding, family, etc) and it always drove me crazy when the photographer doesn’t critique or have ideas. Jolene was on top of everything and made it so easy!
How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?
it was so much more relaxed and fun than I really expected. I expected to be nervous and anxious the whole time but that didn’t even last through hair and makeup.
What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (hair and makeup, the shoot, image reveal, giving the images etc..)
I think the shoot itself was the best part. The pictures are great and it’s fun to go back and look at them, but the experience itself is what made me feel best. It was so freeing!
How has the response been to your images?
My husband is the only who has seen them and I’m pretty sure he goes through them several times a day, so I’d say he likes them.
What is your advice for women interested in a boudoir experience?
Do it! I second guessed myself for so long before finally committing and I do not regret it! I really needed a confidence booster and that’s exactly what I got.
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of your experience?
I think as women we are all so hard on ourselves and we deserve to get a few hours to feel beautiful and confident. Jolene has a way of making every picture turn out awesome and gave me the opportunity to see myself the way she saw it through the camera.

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. What you’ve overcome and where you are heading.

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle. It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
