Doing a boudoir shoot is something that I’ve always wanted to do but never felt like I was ready. Mostly I always told myself to get in better shape. Finally, I just decided it was time. I was looking for a little pick me up, and I definitely found it!
I was afraid that I would hate what my face looked like. I always think I look stupid with a serious face and even when I think it’ll look okay, I see the picture and I just look angry. So I was worried that I would have major RBF in all of the pictures. I was also scared of what my body would look like. I can get such a bad self image in my head sometimes, and I was worried about that too. Basically, all of the fears I had were with my own self perception.
I didn’t have RBF, so that’s a start. I wasn’t really worried about the session, mostly because Jolene was so bubbly on the phone. I knew I would love her from the get-go, and that it wouldn’t be the slightest bit uncomfortable.
I liked everything, but if I had to choose it would be the image reveal. It’s so scary to not know what they are going to look like and then to find out you love everything is such a relief.
Love. All the way around.
DO IT!! You will never regret it. It is such a confidence boost and I think everyone needs that from time to time. We live in a world where our perception of beauty can be very unrealistic. It’s easy to hate our bodies, our smiles, our hair, etc. A boudoir shoot will help you feel beautiful and amazing in the body you were given!
It helped me see myself in a better light for sure. I still think I could improve my body, but I think that’s an issue I’ll always have to take up with myself. These pictures are beautiful, and even though I don’t always love my stomach, for example, they make me not ashamed to get the biggest print money can buy and throw it on display.

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. What you’ve overcome and where you are heading.

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle. It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
