“Do it for Yourself” Boudoir Photography – Madison, WI

June 1, 2018

What is your age? 37

What do you do for a living? I am a RN and lactation consultant.

What made you decide to book a boudoir session? I first decided a few years ago when my body was bangin. I only had one kid and I had gotten my body to a point where I wanted it to be. A friend and I attempted to do some boudoir shoots for each other but we failed miserably. So I had been wanting to have a professional session since then. Well, fast forward 4 years and two more kids, and 50 pounds heavier, I wasn’t feeling good about my post baby body. I had two babies in 2 years and it really took its toll on my weight and abdomen muscles. Despite not being at my ideal weight, I decided to book with Jolene. I felt like she could capture my beauty and I’m trying this new thing where I’ve decided to love my body instead of wish it were different. I have grown 3 human beings with my body, pushed them out of my body and fed them with my body. And I’m damn proud of that. My body deserves hella love right now. It’s not broken nor does it need to be fixed in order for me to do this photo shoot.

Did you have any fears about your boudoir session? I actually didn’t. Lol! I’m not scared of too many things, I was just really excited.

How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)? Jolene had explained how it was going to go down pretty well so I felt really prepared for it. It was really fun and went super smooth.

What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (hair and makeup, the shoot, image reveal, giving the images etc…) The IMAGES!!! Oh my lawd, hello GODDESS!

How has the response been to your images? My husband loved them! But the shoot was really more for me, so his opinion was just a bonus 😉

What is your advice for women interested in such a session? Do it for yourself! Not for anyone else.

Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a a result of the session? I felt like the decision to book the session kind of forced me to be more respectful and loving of my precious physical being.

About jolene

As a photographer, the significance of intent cannot be overstated. I create photographs of women for themselves first and foremost. While some clients may choose to share their pictures with their significant others, my primary objective is to craft imagery for YOU first and foremost. I want you to look at your images and FEEL something. I want your images make you feel powerful, confident and self aware. I want your images to remind you of where you are right now. What you’ve overcome and where you are heading.

Boudoir

I photographed my first boudoir photoshoot in 2007, and since then I have been in absolute awe of what boudoir shoots do for women and their self confidence. As a woman myself I completely understand the struggle.  It’s getting better out there, but we are still constantly bombarded with messages of not being good enough. […]
