The Photoshoot Experience | WI Boudoir

I pride myself on making the boudoir photoshoot experience process EASY! I will hold your hand every step of the way.  So, if my client rave reviews aren’t enough, I would like to walk you through exactly what a shoot with me looks like. When you’re doing something that’s outside of your comfort zone I have always found, the best way to deal with the nerves is to prepare. 

For example, the first time I had to speak in public I was a nervous wreck.  The way I dealt with it was to prepare, prepare, and then prepare some more. 

Can you be over-prepared?  Not in my opinion!  

Miss J had expressed in her initial inquiry that she doesn’t even get dressed in front of her partner and she avoids swimsuits at all costs.  She had heard however from a couple of friends, that this experience can help to give a girl some confidence, so she was open to giving this boudoir photoshoot experience thing a try.

When she arrived in the studio she was visibly nervous.  Some women get really chatty when they’re nervous.  Others get really quiet.  Miss J was definitely the quiet type.  But it was only about 10 minutes into the shoot that I could see her relax and settle in.  It happens in every shoot.  That visible moment when the client realizes that she’s having fun and the experience isn’t awkward at all!

So what exactly is this experience like?

By the time you’ve walked in the door you will have received so much guidance that there really won’t be anything left to wonder about.  Remember all that over prepare talk?  Yeah, you will be prepared to the max.

I also send out a Pre-Shoot Questionnaire. 

I want to get to know you a bit!  What’s your reason for booking a shoot?  What parts of your body are your favorite?  Where is your comfort level as far a nudity is concerned.  How nervous are you?  This questionnaire will help me to know how you’re feeling and what type of imagery you’re looking for.

The big day arrives! 

As soon as you arrive I will help you with your things into your dressing room.  We’ll run though all the wardrobe options you’ve brought and if you need help narrowing down your choices I am happy to offer suggestions.  I have a small sampling of some basic wardrobe pieces you can borrow as well if needed.  

Next, we will whisk you into hair and makeup with one of my incredibly talented makeup artists.  Do I think you need to have professional hair and makeup in order for us to create beautiful images together?  Absolutely not.  But, I really like taking it off your plate. I like providing you with an hour of pampering and I love giving you the opportunity to “sit in the space” before we start shooting.  By the time you’re out of hair and makeup you are going to be 1000% more comfortable than when you walked in the door.  Oh yeah…and you’ll look absolutely amazing too!

The Photoshoot Experience! 

Shoots are fun, uplifting and empowering!  My goal is to always create authentic looking, emotive imagery and I have ALL the tricks to get us there.  You do not need to know how to move, where to look, or what to do with your hands.  I will coach your expressions and I am an expert on body language.  You will look amazing and feel amazing too!

We will take about 20-30 minutes per outfit including the sheets outfit at the end.  Sheets?  What is this sheet outfit you ask?  I like to call the last look I always provide my clients “Between the Sheets”.  These are images with just you and my white linen sheets and they are ALWAYS client favorites.  Depending on your comfort level you can be completely nude under the sheet or perhaps you’ll be more comfortable with a nude color pair of bottoms on.  It’s up to you.  If you do decide you would like some nude or topless images we typically will just work that into this portion of the shoot.  How revealing your images are is 100% up to you.

The Big Reveal!

We will shoot for around an hour and a half.  It will be so much and it will FLY by!  As soon as we’re done, we will look at a calendar and schedule your Image Reveal and Ordering Consultation for 1-3 weeks later.  In the meantime, I will get to work editing and retouching all of your images. 

At the Ordering Consultation, I will reveal your gorgeous images to you via a musical slideshow.  We’ll have refreshments and celebrate YOU seeing yourself as you’ve probably never seen yourself before!  I have never had a client not completely swoon over her images and I am 1000% confident you will LOVE yours too. 

I will show you samples of all of your ordering options including digitals, stunning wall art and gorgeous, imported albums.  You will choose your favorites, maybe you’ll pick them all!  It happens all the time!  Any digital images you’ve purchased are delivered the same day and products take from 4-6 weeks to arrive.

When we’re all done selecting your images and products, you’ll “float” out of the studio.  Or you might skip…or twirl…probably all three!

“I was not feeling comfortable in my skin. I got embarrassed every time my husband walked by the bedroom door and saw me changing. I decided enough was enough, took a HUGE step out of comfort zone, and booked the shoot! I’m so glad I did, and so thankful Jolene was able to capture it all. I’ve honestly never felt better about myself!

“I was scared the photos would turn out horrible. I was scared I would hate the session. I was scared it would make me feel even worse about myself. Valid fears, but could not have been more wrong! So please believe me when I say, you are not the ONE woman I am unable to photograph and it’s ok to be nervous.  I would even say being nervous is actually part of the experience.
